I’m Alyssa Avant, the heart behind Christian Reads & Reflections, and I’m absolutely thrilled you’ve found your way here. This little passion project of mine combines three of my greatest loves: faith, books, and meaningful conversations shared over a warm cup of coffee.

My Story

As a mom of three wonderful kids, a business owner, and someone who’s been blessed to work alongside incredible Christian authors, speakers, and coaches as a virtual assistant, I’ve always found my truest joy in the pages of a good book. My love affair with reading began early – as a child, the library wasn’t just a place I visited, it was my sanctuary. I’d spend hours wandering the aisles, carefully selecting treasures to take home, each book promising a new adventure.

These days, you’re just as likely to find me browsing the shelves of a local bookstore with a latte in hand, or listening to audiobooks while I work (because let’s face it, audiobooks are a busy mom’s secret weapon for fitting more reading into life!). There’s something magical about discovering that perfect story that both captivates your imagination and speaks to your soul.

My Reading Heart

My literary heart belongs firmly in the world of Christian fiction, with a special soft spot for mystery and suspense. I have Nancy Drew to thank for that particular obsession – those childhood afternoons spent following her adventures sparked a lifelong love for stories that keep you guessing while pointing you toward truth. There’s something beautifully unique about fiction that can make your heart race with excitement while simultaneously drawing you closer to your faith.

Why This Site Exists

Christian Reads & Reflections was born from those moments when you finish an incredible book and immediately need to tell someone about it. You know the feeling – when a story has touched your heart so deeply that you can’t contain your excitement. I’ve been blessed to work closely with many talented Christian authors through my virtual assistant business, and I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible heart and purpose that goes into faith-based fiction.

I knew I wanted to create a space that feels like sitting down with dear friends over coffee, sharing book recommendations, and having those wonderful conversations about how stories can change us. I’m joined by a couple of amazing friends who share this passion, because the best part of reading has always been the sharing.
